At the moment, my students have absolutely no sports equipment available to them for their soccer class. The students love to play and watch the sport, but resources are not available for them. As someone who has played organized soccer for years growing up, including high school soccer, I have come to realize what equipment is essential for students of the game to practice and learn the sport effectively. The point of the class goes beyond simply enjoying the sport, although the students certainly do that. Promoting physical wellness is important for promoting emotional wellness as well. Providing portable goals and soccer balls with a carrying bag are crucial for our school. Given that our physical education classes occur off-campus, transporting the equipment efficiently is crucial for the class. Soccer balls and goals would be used for the students to practice fundamental soccer skills, including passing, ball control, and shooting. The students would also play scrimmages with each other, which necessitates distinguishing between the different teams for the students. Boundaries are important to set up for scrimmages, and therefore cones are needed. Not only will students be engaging in the sport itself, but the students will be tasked with learning the rules of, as well as increase in tactical proficiency in, the sport itself. All of the materials that I am asking funds for will be used entirely for the benefit of the students to promote physical and mental wellness by engaging in a sport that they love but lack resources to play properly.
