Many children in our school community have not had the opportunity to travel outside their own neighborhood or city. Visiting the Santa Ana Zoo would be the first zoo experience for many of our students. Giving children the gift of invaluable "outside the classroom" opportunities to learn helps to bridge the achievement gap that exists when compared to children who have more advantages. Learning about animals is so motivating for our students! They are naturally curious about the world around them and they are fascinated by how different animals look, behave, grow, and change. At the Santa Ana Zoo, our kindergarten students would have the opportunity to learn about animal adaptations through an animal expert presentation, visit hands-on learning stations, and observe many different types of animals.
