My students are a lively and curious group of ethnically and academically diverse second graders. Our school is a Title I school located in an urban area. All of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch by virtue of their families' socioeconomic status. I have a total of 22 students. Nine are African American. Thirteen are Hispanic. Ten have been classified as Limited English Proficient by the State of California on the basis of parent surveys and student assessments. Despite their socioeconomic and academic disadvantages, they have been hard-working, enthusiastic learners, and it has been my pleasure to be their teacher!
