I am hoping the materials will make my classroom a warm and inviting place where students can focus on growing emotionally and academically. Some materials will be used for mental breaks. Some will be used to provide students an additional place to sit, other than their desk! Different seating options can also aid in the academic and social success of students with special needs and/or learning disabilities. As we build a student-centered environment, it is important for students to gain ownership in learning how to pick a spot in the classroom that allows them to be successful. Gone are the days where students are expected to sit quietly and not move from their desks. Learning should be collaborative and engaging. I am hoping with these new seating options, to do just that.
