I am teaching the fall of Saigon, and this is the recommended book that should accompany this learning module. The charter school I work for is small -- we don't even have a playground for our kids -- and it doesn't have the money right now to buy new books. These books will be put to good use as I plan to use them year after year. They come highly recommended. What's got me excited about this module is that it's about refugees, and although we are looking specifically people who fled Vietnam, it feels like a very current, and relevant topic. We here in Albuquerque come right up against current day refugees whose experiences are undoubtedly much like Thanhha Lai, the author of the book I'm hoping to use in my classroom.
