Often when students are placed in my classroom, they believe that reading a book is simply out of their reach. However, once I show them how to break words apart into sounds and syllables, using evidence based reading instruction, they begin to show amazing growth. Still, my students need frequent opportunities to practice what they've learned and ultimately see themselves as readers. These decodable books will give my struggling and beginning readers an opportunity to read independently, drawing on their acquired knowledge of phonics. All of the books I have chose are phonetic-based and align with a sequential and systematic approach to reading. I carefully selected books that are not just decodable but engaging as well, with lively characters and fun illustrations. My students have already begun to show an increase in their interest and motivation for reading, but we need more books! Your donation will allow them more positive experiences with reading as they develop their decoding skills!
