I have recently been able awarded a county art grant to install a kiln in our elementary school. While our high school has a field clay program the elementary had to utilize air dry and foam based clay. Our PTO also did a fundraiser to help us with 1/2 the cost of the kiln and installation. I will be teaching clay to kindergarten through 6 grade including life skills classes. I will need places to store clay projects while they dry, while they are being worked on, and when they are glazed. We plan on so ng pinch pits, coil pots, and slab-built bowls and boxes. Each grade level will get 2-3 lessons in clay. I see my students once every 6 days, having a way to organize projects will help this program succeed. While shelving may not seem glamorous it's something that I cannot afford since I still need to buy other art supplies.
