The playground balls that I am requesting will help our third through fifth-grade students have an opportunity to direct their recess energy in a safe and positive way. Without basketballs, soccer balls, and other play equipment, the play yard often becomes an uncomfortable space for our most vulnerable students. Many conflicts erupt due, in part, to boredom. Our students deserve to feel safe and supported in all physical areas of our school. The addition of sports balls will help students direct their energy in a positive manner as well as build cooperation and team building skills. The basketballs, soccer balls, tetherball covers, and playground rubber balls will be stored in preexisting bins. Each bin will be rolled out by student volunteers before every recess and available to all students to share.
