My students are receiving their 1 to 1 laptops for the first time this year. We use online reading apps, math programs, and interactive websites daily. For example, students can listen to stories being read to them, which increases their reading levels and confidence in reading. For math, my students begin the year working on Learn Boost by Khan Academy, and Prodigy. All of these sites have noise, music, or interactive elements built into them. The noise in the classroom would be way too loud without headphones. These headphones will level the playing field for my students because many just can't afford to buy them. By having a class set of headphones, my students can work on the skills they need to improve on while not distracting their neighbors. This way all of my students can concentrate on their learning objectives.
