The goal of my project is to get the sensory items and alternative seating I need to make my classroom more accessible to my incoming students. With the items from this project, I will be creating a “Sensory Corner” within my classroom where students can go when they are overstimulated and need to re-regulate. This area will be a safe space for them to calm their bodies and be ready to return to learning. Additionally, I’m hoping to receive a few alternative seating items as well. The wobble cushion will help kids with sensory or attention deficits to better focus on the task at hand. The cube chairs would benefit my students who have more physical support needs by providing them a structured place to sit and participate in activities that typically take place on the floor. This seemingly simple list of items would drastically change the way my students are able to access their education.
