The goal of English language arts is to build students reading and comprehension skills. However, it is my desire that students develop the habit of reading to learn, and not just learning to read. I want them to become passionate readers. Therefore while I use techniques to help them learn to read and process what they read, they will enjoy learning new information and genres of literature. My classroom library, as it was last year, is severely lacking in appearance and modern resources. My upcoming students, most of whom I have already met will tremendously benefit from this initiative. At the moment I am unable to purchase all that I will need to create our reading space and so I sincerely ask for your kind and caring assistance. Thank you.
