As technology is becoming an integral part of classroom instruction, these Chromebooks will allow students with special needs to access various software programs that will help them improve their academic skills. Use of tech tools provide various accommodations such as text to speech for oral administration; read alouds; speech to text for writing assignments; highlighting; calculations; spelling and grammar check, and so much more. In addition, the Chromebooks will give students access to the Internet, which they will not only need to complete research assignments but connect to the world with the touch of a few keystrokes from their seats. Special education is a critical shortage area across the nation where resources are not always available to those most in need. Having enough technology in my class allows my students share in the same digital experiences used in general education classrooms which they otherwise may not have a chance to participate in if there are not enough laptops programmed to accommodate their needs.
