I teach all of our students how to use our online card catalog system called Destiny. Students are able to search through subjects, authors, and titles to see what books are available at our library and where they are located. Currently, students need to log in to a computer to access our catalog. Since our computers can take a while to recognize the user, there is a lot of wasted time. I would like to move into the 21st century by offering our students a kiosk station in the library. This station would be equipped with an iPad that is already logged into our card catalog system making it quicker and easier for our students to located available materials. They will be able to apply skills taught during library class into library checkout. Many students only have a short amount of time to visit the library and need to return to their classrooms in a timely manner. By offering a kiosk station, students will save time by not waiting for computer systems to log in and therefore return to their classrooms in a more timely manner.
