I am so excited to get to teach Science and Reading this year! We will be doing five novels for read aloud and tie each book to either science or reading. Some will even crossover into morals and ethics, as well. For example, after reading "See You in the Cosmos", we will engage in science explorations that will enhance their understanding in a profound way. With "Black Beauty", we will get to watch the movie and then, do a compare and contrast exercise between the book and the movie. While I could simply read these books aloud, it will be more impacting and educational for the students to follow along and be able to see the words and hear them pronounced. It will also boost their confidence in being able to read bigger books and novels from the classics list.
