Dramatic play is important to my students' learning. I've included career dress up which will broaden the children's horizons on what they could become when they grow up. After my first year of teaching, I realized that many students were unaware of careers and job titles outside of what their parents did. This type of play gives them the opportunity to look beyond their current home and school environment. Who didn't love Playdough as a kid? This sensory play, mixed with learning objects is a favorite amongst the students. They are able to create while learning their alphabet and numbers. Not only do the students like to eat; they also enjoy having the opportunity to create their own restaurant. The students learn different food groups, how to set a table, balanced diets, as well as "how to cook," and clean up after themselves. This is really a team effort that the students look forward to having.
