My classroom is set up so that students have choice in where they sit at different points throughout the day. They thrive when given independence in making the best choice for them to be successful. As with adults, when given choices, we are more likely to take ownership of our learning and achieving the goals we have set for ourselves. Although I do have some choices of seating in my current classroom, all of the seating choices are stationary. Students need the opportunity to move when it helps them learn. The expectations on children are high, yet they are still kids who love to move. I want to give them more ability to engage in moving while learning.
