In my class, we will spend at least 90-minutes per day on our literacy block. During that time, I need to create a reading rotation where students will build their reading stamina and spend time reading a "just right" book to themselves. I hope to create a reading box for each of my 22 students. At the beginning of each week, students will go to the classroom library to pull "just right" books for their personal reading box. Later, when they go to their "read-to-self" rotation their book-box will be ready to go. This means I need at least 110 books in our classroom library if I hope to have 5 books in each reading box every week. Reading is the most important aspect of first-grade, and I want to instill in every student a love of books! Our classroom needs a complete first-grade library. Through DonorsChoose, I hope to be able to provide my students with the most enchanting collection of classroom books where every student can learn to love reading!
