Our world is becoming increasingly paperless and technologically friendly. Unfortunately my school does not have the funds to provide my students with the technology to sharpen their skills reading non-print literature. Apps on the Kindle such as Epic books would give my students access to an endless electronic library in both English and Spanish. This would enhance their vocabulary in both languages and increase their interest for reading. My young learners are best served in a small group guided reading model. At varying levels of reading abilities, access to the Kindles allows my students to engage with literature in a meaningful way while I work one on one with my readers.
