Literacy is incredibly important in strengthening the foundation of our students’ futures, especially with our population of Emergent Bilinguals being so profound in California. By including multicultural literature that serves as both mirrors and windows to my students, they will have the potential to become passionate readers who either see themselves in the books they read, or further develop empathy by reading books about people that are different than them. These books will serve them by allowing them to strengthen their sense of identity and place in the world, as well as empower them to dream amazing things and set goals for themselves. With these books, my students will embrace their culture, their languages, their interests, and their roots to become the best versions of themselves. Please help my students by contributing to a culturally rich, hope-filled classroom library!

About my class
