My students live in a world that is quite different from the one I experienced as a teen. While technology is at their fingertips, often they have no idea how to apply it in practical real-world situations. Sewing and cooking provide excellent opportunities for this. While my school has fully stocked kitchen facilities, my students will need sewing supplies in order for this class to be successful. We will create shirts using electroluminescent wiring systems, sew various items, monogram projects with Cricut iron-on vinyl, and learn about the science of cooking, among many other projects. I can't wait to share these projects with my students!
