Small group-specific instruction, practice, and student engagement is the key to helping all students achieve their math potential. While I am working with small groups of students, the other students have an opportunity to review previously learned skills or extend their learning through a variety of center activities. I need your help in providing engaging activities for my students that will reduce their math anxiety, reinforce key skills, and prove that math is fun! Activities like the Challenge 24 game, Mathalogical Liar, and Math Noodlers will provide enrichment opportunities for students that will challenge their levels of mathematical understanding and computation. The Grab and Match Math Quickies and the Super Score games will provide opportunities for students to practice previously learned skills but in an engaging game-like manner. Finally, resources such as the multiplying fractions cards and the multiple-step problem cards will provide additional resources for when I am working with small groups of students that need additional teaching and support on key fifth-grade skills. I truly believe that if students experience success in a fun format, their mindset can shift from one of frustration and discouragement about problem-solving in math, to one of excitement and persistence in problem-solving​. With your help, I can create this mindset shift in my upcoming fifth graders! Thank you!
