The flexible seating options will make a positive difference in my students learning. Due to the arrangement of the classroom, I am using flexible seating as an incentive. Students will be able to be earn flexible seating options during independent learning. Last year, I allowed my students to experiment with working in various spaces of the classroom. We did not have flexible seating options, but students made their own. They used the back counter, floor, corners, and underneath desks to complete class work. The students enjoyed choosing their work space and it gave them a sense of ownership. However, I noticed that some students misused the freedom and had difficulty showing responsibility. By using flexible seating as an incentive, students will be encouraged to make positive choices. Students will have opportunities to earn flexible seating by showing responsibility and good character. I believe that all students will be excited about the seating choices and will be successful at earning the privilege.
