In today’s world of stress, anxiety, busy families, technology and ‘me first’ thinking, classroom teachers, more than ever before, must teach a social skills curriculum. Through a series of read-aloud books that are relevant and engaging to young children, I will be able to fill what I feel has become a hole in teaching today. These books will empower my young learners to handle frustration, stick up for themselves and others, learn to persevere, and create a classroom feeling-tone of love, inclusion, and kindness. These titles will be the first step to launching valuable discussions and shared experiences among our classroom family. We will revisit them many times and will undoubtedly have many best loved favorites to read and refer to over and over throughout our year together.
