I have chosen a variety of things that will be necessary for an effective classroom. Many of the items I am asking for include different math manipulatives, writing materials, and literacy learning stations. These materials will help advance my students learning through tactile activities and visuals aids. I have also asked for several books and resources to teach my students social skills and coping skills. Due to the nature of the neighborhood, my school is in, many of my students have ACE's and come to schools with many obstacles to overcome. They often lack the social and coping skills necessary to learn and must be addressed before true learning can occur. I believe these books, visuals, and tools will help my students overcome, understand and excel in and out of my classroom. These tools and books support the social-emotional curriculum and have been recommended through various trauma-informed care and responsive classroom professional developments and resources I have been a part of.
