Our school is a Kindergarten through 2nd Grade building so my students have lots of energy. My students love to read but would also love to have the opportunity to move around and engage their minds with creative play. I want our library to be a place where students can come and not only use their imaginations to read but also to create! Every student comes to the library with their class each week for 30 minutes to explore and check out new books. However on Fridays I have the unique opportunity of having 2 classes at once for 30 minutes for teachers to have collaboration time. Having 40 students in the library at one time can be challenging so I would love to have the opportunity to utilize this time for small groups to explore with maker space building sets. Students would benefit not only educationally but also socially through play and creativity with this opportunity. I desire for students to come in and express themselves with hands on materials while continuing to engage their brain!
