As a first year teacher, I've been lucky enough to acquire some hand-me-down materials for my students. Yet there's a little more to meet the needs of my students this year. Especially as I take on the role as a math teacher for 3-5th grade students, I'm in need of materials specifically for math education. Math is more than just finding the right answer. I believe in a math classroom that fosters autonomy, problem solving, and responsibility. There are materials that help facilitate procedures and routines that build these values, such as a timer. The visual timer helps students keep track of how much time is left and self-manage their behavior to meet the goal. Materials will help build a classroom that builds students' math identity and confidence!
