The total school population of our school is approximately 550 students. Ethnically the school is primarily Hispanic and 50% of the students are second language learners who receive ESL or bilingual services. Over 75% of our students are on free or reduced lunch, 3% are identified as gifted, and 6% receive special education services. Because our students live in a poverty stricken environment, they worry daily about things that are going on at home, where their next meal will come from, and about caring for siblings. These elementary students handle grown up problems on a daily basis, but are still so eager to learn and enthusiastic about school.

About my class
