Six books. One hundred kids. The promise of a lifetime of reading for enjoyment. This is the goal of Pathways High's book clubs. This fall, we are planning to offer six new titles for both staff and students to read and enjoy together. Student choice is at the center of the daily reading time. The six selected titles reflect and expand the diverse perspectives of the students and staff here. Every person will read the first pages of each offering, ranking their selections of books before making a final selection. The students will be placed in book clubs with an adult that has also selected the same book, to allow for the richest discussion. Books were selected based on both student interest and readability, considering reading levels and challenge. After the book clubs conclude, students will have the opportunity to listen to one another about all the books through a sharing space. From there, the books will grace the shelves in the common space at our school for any and all to check out.
