Using technology in the classroom and integrating technology into a lesson are two contrastive points. My scholars get a chance to be with me in my classroom around 40-50 minutes a day. This makes it harder to get students engaged when you only see them for a short period of time. My lessons consist of their Individualized goals in their paperwork. This means, I can have about 40-50 different goals I need to reach a week. With the use of technology (iPad), scholars will have the opportunity to work together within a game or an app and work on their own level. With an iPad, ready to use in my classroom small groups, the students will be able to get a chance to work together, use technology skills (which aren't incorporated in the curriculum), and use real-life problem solving skills. This is really important because in our school, there aren't enough computers to be in all classrooms, so many of the times, our use of technology is limited. While the children get different times to use a computer, their technology skills are low. Keep in mind that many of my scholars do not have technology at home either. We do state testing, benchmark testing, and assessment testing on the computers. With little to no experience with technology, this makes it harder for the scholars to navigate through what their task is. Being able to show them an iPad for them to consistently use and work on will build confidence in their testing environment and engage student learning.
