These books will be used for book club material. The students will have a chance to read about the lives of other people (or animals) who face very different experiences from what they are living right now. My goal is to help the students see that while we are all human, there are pieces of us that make us special and unique. Each experience we have in life brings us closer to understanding that empathy for others goes a long way. I want to use these books to help students study the way a character changes over the course of their journey and glimpse how this can be applied in their own lives. Even if the character is halfway around the world, or going through something they feel "could never happen to me!", these books will help explain that we all change and we can learn from the challenges life throws at us.
