I am deliberately purchasing products for my lowest functioning group of students who need fresh materials. We will always be working on numbers 1-20, but I am hoping to reengage them with large hands-on kinesthetic and interesting visual materials they will want to use repeatedly. This year our goal is to clearly know the number sequence from 1-12. We need to identify each number separately and recognize what comes before a number and what comes after a number. I have ordered materials according to the students' personal preferences. One student loves cars so I ordered car counters, one likes puzzles so I ordered number puzzles, one likes to put items together so I ordered clasping monkey counters. The new hands-on materials will allow them to construct their number sequences with personal interest and for intended independent work. It is their time to shine independently.
