I want students to love the field of STEM and grow and develop in the 21st century. One thing that I have noticed is that my students are not proficient in many necessary areas of technology. For example, during a recent project, my students were creating a presentation on a world biome. One of the presentation options was a PowerPoint. I noticed that most of my 7th grade students had no idea how to use the simple functions of PowerPoint. This is simply because they have not been taught. In addition, because I teach at a Title I school, many students do not have access to this technology at home either. I want to have technology available in my classroom so that students are interacting with it every day. These students need to be proficient in technology and that can not happen if they are not interacting with it every day integrated into their other curriculum. I want Chromebooks in my classroom so that they can be a tool to push students into the future, allowing them to develop into the leaders they are capable of being in our world.
