I plan to use these materials in learning centers while I teach small groups. Students will be communicating with each other while practicing common core standards. These materials come with easy to read directions allowing the students to be independent of the teacher allowing for fewer interruptions during small group instruction. The materials are dry erase so the students are more likely to take risks knowing their work will not be graded. Students will be engaged in learning spelling patterns, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and math computation. As I assess and guide the students with these skills, they will need time to explore and interact with the skills to master them. Working in groups will allow them time to spell new words, reread a passage to gain word recognition, and improve accuracy with reading and math. Both of these subject areas are essential in building the foundations for overall success in school.
