Flexible seating in my classroom is one that allows students to independently choose where they wish to learn throughout the day- this is beneficial and creates a level of independence and accountability on the students' part while working to foster different learning styles as well. Movable seats and cushions would allow students to take turns and move throughout the classroom as the entire room is a safe space for learning! Dramatic play is also a key component of this innovative classroom. It is proven that students learn extremely well from role-playing and re-enacting realistic roles that they see in their daily lives. For example, their community helpers around their neighborhood or being introduced to different foods in the kitchen. Students practice self-control, language development, conflict resolution, and general empowerment through this type of structured play.
