In spite of your age, the magic of a picture book never ends. I have 60 sixth-grade students in a one-to-one setting, where each student has access to a device. They're smart and very screen-happy. I want my classroom to stimulate students in ways away from the screen and energize their learning. These students are energetic thinkers who love to learn. Our school, parents, and administrators encourage and support students and teachers to seek ways to develop a love of learning for everyone. These picture books and novels will be available in my classroom library for students to read at any time. During the content-related unit, I will use and read the corresponding picture book, or snippets of novels as a way to introduce, reinforce, or extend our grade-level work. Donations to this project will give middle-school students the chance to revisit the "magic" of picture books, and dive into math and science-inspired novels to help them develop their love of learning across subjects.
