These reading materials will support my students' understanding of the lives and experiences of refugees around the world. During the first learning module of school year, my students will be reading A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. Since the topic of refugees is so timely and important, I want to have these supplementary texts in my classroom to engage all students and to help them personally connect with the topic. I've chosen this list of books to contain a range of reading levels and formats to allow all of my students to have access to the material. Students have daily independent reading time, when they can check out these books from the class library. These books will be of high interest to many of my students and will help to broaden their understanding of current events!
