Learning to read is not just about practicing to read, it is also about exposure. By providing my students with a listening center, they will be exposed to other readers. This will then further promote their positive development of appropriate reading skills such as fluency and self correction. Through the use of audiobooks readers and listeners will also be exposed to text that is more advanced than their reading level, further exposing them to content they may not be accustom to seeing and or hearing. Providing students with a listening center is essential to their reading and language development.
