The second grade curriculum is both new and rigorous to our students come September. Reading and writing expectations are held high for all students, knowing that throughout the year goals will be met and there will be much to celebrate come June. The students within our classroom will come to us with various physical, social, emotional and educational needs. We strive to provide an environment that is conducive to all learners. By utilizing different types of seating, learners can choose what works best for them - giving them a sense of ownership and pride when it comes to their own work. This will be met by using Wobble Chairs, Portable Lap Desks and Balance Balls. Offering more than one standing desk will not isolate that one particular student that might need to use one the majority of the day. By providing a classroom set of fidget bands for chairs, many students can reap the benefits of 'keeping their feet busy' to help with focus during lessons.
