My students struggle with learning due to their low socioeconomic backgrounds and limited school readiness skills. They learn best with hands-on experiences like coding, building with LEGOS and sequence of events, as well as with discovery learning. Coding and robots as well as building with LEGOS help my students use their language and to build on their language. What better way of helping students than to donate toward these materials to allow them to know that school is a place for learning and not just a safe haven from their traumatic backgrounds. My students become very engaged and excited when they are allowed to use hands-on materials like LEGOS and coding materials. They don't see it as learning because it is constructive play to them. My students will make huge gains when given the power to learn while having fun. They will also add to their language skills, as they discuss the coding sequence.
