As time passes, we as teachers are learning more and more about the importance of physical activity and movement in the classroom. Stationary seating is becoming outdated, and rather harmful, as we learn that movement encourages increased attention spans, motivation, and engagement. Movement increases the amount of blood flow to the brain, which supports mental clarity. Who wouldn't want that for their students? By donating to our Hokki Stool project, you would be adding to the personal and comfortable climate that I strive to create in my classroom by simply making "sitting still" look like fun! Hokki Stools are made to provide a wider range of motion when sitting down. They are comfortable, easy to use and store, visually attractive, and made especially for people who learn best when given the chance to move around a little bit. These stools would be incredibly beneficial for my students who have a hard time paying attention because they are focusing all of their mental energy into sitting still. Since the Stools would be used at my small group table, hopefully, my students will look forward to their small group time, knowing that it won't be as mentally exhausting because they get to sit on the "fun" chairs! Each child has the right to an equal opportunity to learn, and I believe that having these stools in my classroom will encourage that.
