Music not only brings joy to students, it also improves literacy. Sound distinction that is developed during music classes has been linked to neural distinction of sounds, which is a skill that is used in reading. The Xyloba musical marble run is a creative approach to music and will surely get my students engaged in class. Using the marble run, the students will build and compose music at the same time not to mention having fun while doing so. The marble run encourages creativity, construction skills and music appreciation. The students will need multiple sets to limit the number of students having to share the musical marble runs, and maximize the benefits. The addition of the Xyloba musical marble runs to the music classroom will benefit all grade levels at Piedmont.
