We are requesting new books, a comfy place to read them, book bins and supply caddies for a way to entice the children to choose the books make all the difference in engaging students. These new books will enhance the library that I work tirelessly to create. My classroom library is a place that my students use and enjoy continuously as they complete independent work there, work as a group, and they read independently there! Every student's book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. These are books which will allow the students to see themselves and their various cultures in the books. It will allow them to connect to characters, making their experience more engaging, and I know that they as they choose these new books, they will enjoy the independent reading time even more. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
