FIRST Robotics team students want to learn, they want to excel at creating robots that will perform well on the competition field. A large part of this experience is using technology for Computer Aided Design software. The ability to design components and assemblies will save valuable resources, mostly time. Industry standard software is made available to teams however often the needed computers are not accessible when the students most need them during build season. School computer labs are not part of the build space allocated to the team. Additionally the ability to take a laptop with designs on it to machine shops for assistance allow students to make changes as needed. As well as allow industry leaders to work with our students. The ability to expose the students to the way it is done in actual businesses creates a better experience for the students that will resonant well past our build season and continue into their professional life after high school.
