Students come into my classroom with all kinds of baggage in tow. They often carry stressors with them that adults don't even begin to understand. While adults work daily to handle the stress, my students are not sure how to release stress, gain control, and stay focused on their ultimate goal of learning each day. Giving my students choice gives them control over a situation. Flexible seating, like the wobble seats and floor chairs, allows them to have that choice. It will give them control over a situation, as well as a way to release stress when sitting for 7 hours isn't working. Engagement will increase and negative behaviors will decrease with flexible seating options.
