Having these books accessible in the classroom for our students will assist them in becoming better readers and critical thinkers. In them having access to these books they will be able to better understand theme, setting, plot, and how to summarize. These skills will assist them on the LEAP Test and as they move into middle school. There are lots of children that are behind on their reading level because the lack access to books. My goal as their teacher is to expose them to as many books as possible including different genres so that they not only grow as readers but understand that there is so much more to reading than pictures.
