My students enter the classroom with an extremely diverse set of math skills. Some have relatively strong math backgrounds, while others have almost none. Less than one in twenty is performing at grade level. This variety severely limits the effectiveness of whole-group direct instruction: lectures and demonstrations only "reach" a small proportion of students. With your donation of a class set of Chromebooks, I will flip my classroom, allowing students to proceed at their own pace and freeing me up to work with small groups and individuals. Replacing whole-group direct instruction with recorded video lectures and demonstrations will eliminate the need for me to waste valuable class time in front of the entire class. Instead, students will proceed through units at the pace that works for them while I spend my time working with small groups and individuals to ensure they are on track. However, this can only happen if I have a critical mass of Chromebooks available for students to view my instructional videos. That's where you come in. Please help me modernize my mathematics classroom in order to maximize my impact on student learning!
