Having these materials means I won't have to spend hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket for school supplies. Having these materials also means my students won't have to worry so much about what to bring to class. My students often have a lot going on in their home lives: Taking care of their younger siblings before and after school, working part time jobs after school to help their parents pay the bills, and making dinner for their families while their parents are at work. By supplying my classroom with these materials, it will be a few less things for my students to stress over. We practice math problems on whiteboards on a daily basis and we are constantly running out of markers! Having dry erase markers ready to go will save us precious time. The same goes for pencils and erasers. We lose so many minutes in the day while students search for something to write with or ask their classmate if they have an eraser to fix a mistake. These basics go a long way!
