Our writing workshop utilizes a few different strategies and one of the most engaging is getting children to create stories with a partner by building it with LEGOs and people. Play-based learning is so vital to teaching the whole child and there are less and less opportunities to do so every year. By using the LEGOs, students will become more engaged in creating stories and more invested in writing them. Students will see the value in writing and what they can do with it in the future. The LEGO plates will allow them to easily create a story with different parts, beginning, middle, and end. Using the LEFO people from the world people set will make it more relatable to students so that all of my students of different cultures and backgrounds can see themselves represented.
