Picture a brand new STEM charter school with shiny new floors and freshly painted walls, but sadly, no STEM gadgets in individual classrooms. Such a sad picture to paint, but it's reality. Funds are lacking for classroom supplies. I want to give my students Sphero Bolts to program using their coding skills they've acquired in STEM class. My students will get to use their newly acquired knowledge in a hands-on activity. There's no greater reinforcement than using skills immediately on a piece of equipment--it's called experiential learning. So many of us are wired to learn through experience. Sphero bolts can be used across curriculum in science, math, and our Discovery Lab classes.
