The triple beam balances will help students complete many scientific inquiries. Finding mass of objects is an ongoing objective for seventh and eighth graders. I have around 100 students every year. If we had these balances more students would gain access to complete their lab work. The balances will be used in nearly every unit of study. Students will find masses of objects while studying physical, life, and earth sciences. Some examples are finding mass of gummy bears before and after osmosis in life science. Finding the mass of a candle before and after burning and the mass of a deflated and inflated balloon in physical science. Finding the mass of various rocks and minerals in earth science. The actual hands on experience will help students comprehend the concept of mass.
